thumb-aniversary1The formation of Kennington Football Club dates back to before 1890, The Kent County Football Association records show our existence in 1888, however The Football Association put our birth in 1885. What is not in dispute is that Kennington Football Club is the oldest Junior Club in Kent.

Throughout most of the last century The Club played in the local Ashford & District League, where the opposition was mainly drawn from village sides. A large number of military teams also played in the leagues as did sides drawn with strong local railway connections. The advent of the company sponsored teams began to emerge around the seventies.

Kennington Football Club took the major decision to step up the football pyramid into the prestigious Kent County League in the 1980’s. With this major decision came far stronger opponents, better playing surfaces and facilities, and in turn a higher standard of officialdom both on and off the pitch.
