The Weald of Kent Trophy

Kennington won the Weald of Kent Trophy with a convincing 5-1 victory over Swale United on Good Friday. This was the first time in Kennington's long history that they had reached the final of this competition which itself is almost one hundred years old.
In a goaless first half, it was Kennington who came closest to breaking the deadlock with a Steve Rice header hitting the post, however it took only five minutes of the restart for Kennington to take the lead with a Rice header, this time finding the back of the net. Two minutes later they doubled their lead through Steve Harris. Kennington then took control of the match with some neat passing football and went further ahead when Harris scored a stunning third goal. Swale were finding it hard to live with what was now a rampant Kennington side, Chris Watts scored another from a corner and Harris secured the Man Of The Match award and his hat trick with Kennington's fifth. Swale pulled back a consolation goal near the end, but it was too little too late to deny an impressive Kennington team their victory.
