Kennington have been handed a home draw against SCEFL Premier outfit, Crowborough Athletic in the FA Vase first round.

The tie is likely to be played on *Sunday, October 13, 3pm k.o (TBC), owing to landlords Ashford United's involvement in the FA Trophy at Homelands on the Saturday.

Like ourselves, Crowborough have also had two previous away victories to get to this stage, in overcoming two Southern Combination Division One sides without conceding.

Firstly the Crows defeated Shoreham 3-0, before Luke Leppard and Kieran Scantlebury helped them to a 2-0 win at Midhurst & Easebourne in Saturday's second qualifying round.

However, the East Sussex side have so far been unable to replicate that form in the League, residing second-bottom in the SCEFL Premier at the time of the draw, with three points from six outings.

Crowborough have seen success in the FA Vase previously, reaching the fifth round twice - firstly in 2007/08 - defeated 2-0 at home to Kirkham & Wesham - who went on to become AFC Fylde, now of the National League.

The same season they cruised to the Sussex County Division One (now SCFL Premier) title by 20 points to nearest rivals Whitehawk, and won promotion to the Isthmian Division One South - the highest level in the club's history.

Then in 2016/17, they reached the fifth round once more, this time going out 3-6 at home to Coleshill Town, then of the Midland Premier.

There's an FA prize fund of £825 on offer for the winners of each tie, with £275 for the losing side.
