He also plied his trade abroad at Brunos Magpies in the Gibraltar Premier League, and Unirea Dej in Romania, before returning to England in 2018 with National League South side, Welling United, followed by a spell on loan at Whitehawk.

Mendes joins fellow defenders, Luke Hughes, Harry Stow, Adam Phillips, Reiss Crimmen and new vice-captain, Calvin Sedenu, in putting pen-to-paper for Dan Scorer's side ahead of the new season.
