Kennington's proud debut-making run in the FA Vase is over, bowing out to strong Newhaven side at a wet-and-windy Homelands Park.

It’s been a brilliant experience for the club and one we can all be proud of
- Dan Scorer

Ton were hopeful of repeat of their heroics in the previous round against Crowborough Athletic, however early defensive lapses gave Dan Scorer's side a mountain to climb at the interval - in a tie which also produced a hat-trick from marksman, Lee Robinson, to help ease the Dockers into the last 64.

Robinson hit two inside the opening quarter hour to give the Southern Combination Premier side the perfect start, before Dan Huet let fly from 30 yards out with a well-taken third before the break.

Robinson bagged his hat-trick eleven minutes after the re-start, getting on the end of brother Ian’s low cross from the left, to all but kill the tie as a contest.

Substitute Ebou Jallow tucked home Newhaven’s fifth, prior to Ton replying with their consolation through Charlie Owen (pictured, by Matt Bristow).

Lucas Franzen-Jones made it six to complete a resounding victory for the step 5 side.

After the game, Ton boss, Dan Scorer, said: "It's a tough blow, and not a performance we anticipated - but were certainly beaten by a better side on the day.

"It’s been a brilliant experience for the club and one we can all be proud of in our debut in the competition."
