Dan Scorer's side recovered well after going behind to what will be one of the quickest goals of the season - Omar Rowe getting the first of two for the afternoon for Lewisham after just 14 seconds to stun the home crowd.

However Kennington were level minutes later - Sam CONLON capitalising on a weak back pass to nip in, round advancing goalkeeper Justice Owusu, and slot into an empty net.

Conlon was again involved as 'Ton went in front with eleven on the clock - his in-swinging cross from the left was flicked into his own net by Lewisham centre-half, Jordon Hurd.

Dale HORTON hit a third - and his first competitive goal for the club - the pacy attacker rifling home after being neatly played in by fellow marksman, Gary Lockyer.

Tom Barnes was called into action late in the half, closing down the angle to prevent Rowe from scoring, prior to Rymel Symms blasting over when well placed, from a squared ball across the box.

Charlie OWEN could have got his name on the score sheet five minutes after the break, with his shot close-range effort palmed away by Owusu, however the former Hythe Town midfielder wasn't to be denied shortly after, flighting a cross-cum-shot from the right which looped in over the goalkeeper at the far post to make it four.

Gary LOCKYER then struck his first of the afternoon just three minutes later with a classy chip over Owusu, before Lewisham reduced the arrears to 5-2 with a penalty just before the hour.

LOCKYER then stroked home his second and Kennington's sixth - also from the penalty spot - following a marauding run from returning play maker, Tom Scorer, making an instant impact off the bench in being brought down inside the box.

Speaking of the performance, Dan Scorer said: "We couldn't have asked for a worse start - we spoke about imposing our tempo on the game early and within second our casualness cost us, which was extremely frustrating.

"I think the nerves were certainly there again today and you could see we looked slightly unsettled at times.

"With no game next week the boys knew we could potentially go into the Bank Holiday weekend nine points behind the leaders if we didn't claim all three points today.

"It was good to see Dale Horton make his first start for the club and I was really impressed with the threat he posed throughout the game. Harry Stow was another who was exceptional again, and Tom Barnes also did well to keep us in the game at the right times."
